How much candy will I need?
Typically 1/4 to 1/2 pound of candy is sufficient for a candy buffet. If children are a high percentage of your guests, if the candy buffet will be out for the duration of the party, or if it serves as dessert then you’ll want to have a minimum of 1/2 pounds per person. We recommend having plenty so that you don’t run out.
What type of candy is best?
With endless possibilities, use your imagination and let your sweet tooth lead the way. All types of candy and sweet treats are options. You’ll want to provide a variety of flavors and textures. Options include sour candy, crunchy candy, a fruit flavor, chocolate, gummy candy, rock candy, licorice, jelly beans and something with nuts. Popular food options include flavored popcorn and chocolate covered pretzels.
Should my candy buffet have a theme or decorations?
Absolutely! You’ll want to incorporate the candy buffet into your overall party theme. Commonly, candy buffets follow the event theme. A neon teen party would have lots of bright colorful candies. A wedding candy buffet would have candy that compliments the wedding color. A beach theme party could have gummy fish and other blue candy.
What type of candy jars work best?
Candy jars should be a variety of shapes and sizes. Determine the shapes of the candy that you’ll be presenting and what types of jars will work best. Take into consideration the size and shape of the table the candy buffet will be on. Sticky candy should be served with tongs. Typically spoons work best for hard candy.
Should I hire an attendant?
There are several things to consider when determining if an attendant is right for your candy buffet. Who will set up the buffet? Your buffet will need to be restocked and kept clean especially if it is out for the duration of your party. The venue’s waitstaff may be able to help with this.
Pro Tips:
- Decorate and label all jars with the type of candy inside.
- Decorate tongs and serving spoons.
- Label or order custom bags or boxes for guests to put their treats in.
- Convert the escort/check in table into the candy buffet so you can reuse the decorations.
